Frying the Donuts

  • Carefully lower one to two apple fritters into the hot oil at a time, ensuring you don’t overcrowd the pot. Fry them for approximately three minutes, gently flipping them halfway through, until both sides are a deep, inviting golden brown. Using your slotted metal utensil, transfer the fried fritters directly to the prepared wire rack lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Repeat this process with the remaining donuts, monitoring the oil temperature between each batch.

Glaze

  • Once the fried donuts have cooled sufficiently (they should be mostly cool but still slightly warm to the touch), prepare the glaze. For easier handling and to prevent sticking, place the pre-fried apple fritters on individual squares of parchment paper. Then, you can carefully lower the entire fritter and parchment square into the hot oil, using tongs to quickly remove the parchment paper once the fritter begins to firm up.
